1. INCAT
It was a dream of Robert Clifford to build a wave-piercing catamaran. People laughed at his idea but he persisted and now Incat produces ‘world class’ catamarans, uses state of the art technology and employs over 700 people. Join us on a tour of this facility and see the latest vessel being built. You will also hear about an exiting partnership between industry education and TAFE which is not only addressing skill shortages, but assisting students to link their learning with the real world of work. Note: You will be transported to the site by bus, but there is a fair bit of stair climbing and walking involved. Long trousers, long sleeved shirt and sturdy shoes are a necessity and you will be required to wear a helmet and safety glasses to comply with OH&S practices.
2. Liferaft Systems Tasmania
Life-raft Systems manufacture inflatable marine evacutation sstems and large capacity liferafts for ships all over the world. It not only exports this innovative technology, but also the manpower to maintain and install these systems worldwide. During the tour you will gain an understanding of the combination of design and technology that has positioned this business as a world leader.
