The Top End of the Northern Territory is renowned to travellers for its tropical weather, rich indigenous culture, National Parks and laid-back lifestyle. Darwin is the Northern Territory’s multicultural capital, famed for its markets and festivals, Asian cuisine and massive natural harbour. It is also the perfect base from which to explore the natural treasures of World Heritage-listed Kakadu, and Litchfield National Park as well as the Tiwi Islands.
To the north of Darwin are the Tiwi Islands, Bathurst and Melville, abundant in arts and crafts, and the colourful culture of the Tiwi people.
The World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park –
the largest in Australia – is situated 250 kilometres from Darwin on the Arnhem Highway. Renowned internationally for its natural and cultural wonders, Kakadu has one of the highest concentrated areas of Aboriginal rock art sites in the world.
Further south, the Katherine Region Exploring the Katherine Region further, you will find such treasures as Boroloola, Roper River, Mataranka, Victoria River, the is a vast network of rivers, escarpments and gorges that weave through sprawling plains of cattle stations, National Parks and reserves. In Nitmiluk National Park, the mighty Katherine River slices through towering sandstone cliffs to form the world famous Katherine Gorge. Explore the Daly Region and many other locations that will truly amaze you. 
East of the city discover the untouched wetlands of the Mary River Region with their amazing array of birds and wildlife. Travelling further east you can explore the untamed beauty of Arnhem Land or experience the Gove Peninsular’s water wonderland - sailing, game-fishing or scuba diving.
Aboriginal people are the original custodians of the Top End and have a unique relationship with the land. Their art and Dreamtime stories weave a connection between spirit and country and provide modern travellers with a deeper understanding and insight to the mysteries of the land and waters.
